Ethiopian photographers spell success with alphabet book deal

Four PROEXPOSURE photographers, Ashenafi Gudeta, Betelhem Abate, Ataklti Mulu and Dama Boru have secured a book deal with Frances Lincoln publishers. ‘E is for Ethiopia’ will be an alphabetical journey through Ethiopia, depicting its people, customs, history and scenic beauty.

It follows on from CAFOD’s online photography project www.ethiopialives.net  in 2005, when 19 Ethiopians from diverse backgrounds and different parts of the country turned cameras onto their own lives and shared their very personal perspectives. The ethiopialives project received excellent reviews from around the world, including a feature on BBC online. It challenged stereotypes of Ethiopia as well as giving participants a marketable skill.
