Addis-based PROEXPOSURE photographer Ashenafi Gudeta embarks on a photo-contest “Heroes Save Lives: PEPFAR Heroes, Going Above and Beyond”. The contest seeks to recognise outstanding individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to serve those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Ashenafi is travelling to Afar and Arba Minch to cover his photo-reportage story. His photographs could potentially be shown at an International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria in July 2010..

From coffee to Xmas, from Nets to Running, this photographic alphabet celebrates everything we love most about our country says author Ashenafi Gudeta.

Over 33,000 runners took part in last year’s Great Ethiopian Run, an international 10km race. Throughout the year the NGO Great Ethiopian Run organise races across Ethiopia for men, women and children encouraging participation in sport and raising money for charities in Ethiopia.

Haile Gebreselassie is an Ethiopian long-distance track and road running athlete, has broken 27 world records, won numerous Olympic and World Championship titles and is widely considered one of the greatest distance runners in history.
